At the bottom of the off-ramp, turn Right and travel East for about 2 miles. At the stop/go lights (next to the large car dealership on the right, Walgreens Pharmacy on the left), turn Left (Business Drive). Travel North about a mile to the stop/go lights at Union Avenue turn Right. Travel East to S. 11th Street, turn Left. Travel North for about six blocks. St. Peter Claver is on the corner of 11th and Clara Avenue. There is parking on the street or in the parking lot located between the church and the school..access off of Clara Ave. From the North (Green Bay) Take I-43 to Hwy. 23. East. Travel east on 23 until 23 changes into Erie Avenue. At the corner of 14th and Erie (stop/go lights, corner by a gas station, Car Wash, Pizza Hut and a new Walgreens. turn Right. Travel South to Indiana Avenue (second set of stop/go lights), turn left, travel east to 11th street, turn right and travel south for 4 blocks. Church is on 11th and Clara Avenue. Park on the street or in the parking lot located between the church and the school... access from Clara Ave. (top) How do I become a Catholic? Persons who have never been baptized receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist). Persons baptized in another Christian tradition complete their initiation with the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. Adults follow the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) and children follow the RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children). A person can enter the process when they perceive God's call. The various stages and rites extend over a lengthy period of time. The exact amount of time is dependent upon the person's individual faith journey. Contact Sister Marilyn Brodd for more information. (top) When is Mass celebrated? Weekday Mass is celebrated Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 am. Sunday Masses are conducted Saturday at 4:30 pm, and Sunday at 8:00 and 10:00 am. A Hmong Mass is offered on the first Sunday of the month at 12 noon. (top) When are the Holy Days? Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God (January 1) Ascension of Christ (celebrated the seventh Sunday of Easter) Assumption of the Blessed Mother (August 15) All Saints' Day (November 1) Immaculate Conception of Mary (December 8) (top) How do I join St. Peter Claver Parish? New Member Registration takes place the second Sunday of each month after the 10:00 Mass or by appointment. Please contact us if you have any questions on becoming a member of St. Peter Claver parish. (top) How much is tuition at Christ Child Academy? Tuition costs vary based on the grade level and whether or not the student is a parish member. Please visit the Christ Child Academy website for current tuition cost. Tuition assistance may be available. (top) We are getting married. What is our first step? The initial contact with the church and presider must be done at least 6 months prior to the wedding date. The Catholic church believes this program offers you an opportunity to continue to evaluate and appreciate your strengths and limitations in a caring manner and deepen your relationship with each other and God. (top) Do I have to be Catholic to be married at SPC? Either the bride or groom must be Catholic and a registered member of St. Peter Claver parish at least 6 months prior to the wedding date. Former members of our parish may celebrate their wedding in our church with the written permission of their current pastor. (top) Who can receive the Sacrament of the Sick? The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is administered to those who are ill with a serious sickness, or to those who are in a weak condition because of old age, or to those who are about to undergo serious surgery. (top) Can Catholics be cremated? Yes. The prohibition against cremation no longer exists, since cremation no longer symbolizes a denial of bodily resurrection. In many cases, cremation may be the most affordable type of burial. Ordinarily a funeral liturgy will be celebrated with the body present before cremation. In the event that the body cannot be present, a Memorial Mass for the deceased may be celebrated with the family with or without the cremains present. (top) Can Catholics donate their body to medical science? Yes. Donor cards can be obtained from any hospital. Ordinarily a funeral liturgy will be celebrated with the body present before donation of the body to medical science.
