www.spcministry.com Music Liturgical MinistryCantors Religious EducationAdult Education Committee Activities and Communication CommissionCome as a guest, leave as a friend. Members are sought to welcome new parishioners as they register, to plan and carry out parish and tri-parish social functions, to oversee Coffee and Donuts and, in general, to enhance the welcoming atmosphere of the parish. (top) Adult Education CommitteeMembers plan for Adult Faith Formation through bible studies, retreats, and other adult education opportunities. (top) Art and EnvironmentVolunteer to help decorate the church. Services are needed especially during Christmas and Easter. No artistic ability required. Knowledgeable seamstresses are always welcome! No meetings required. Just watch the bulletin for decorating times. Baptism PreparationMeet with parents to prepare them for their child’s baptism. Four to five 1 hour sessions a year. Great opportunity for a husband and wife team. (top) BingoB2, N8, U’re great! What’s more Catholic than Bingo…well, maybe a lot. But, we can’t deny the financial importance your dedication offers. Come join our team on the third Friday of the month. Volunteers can work every month or once a year. It's all up to you. This task is easy and fun! (top) CantorsOur Cantors are trained singers who lead the congregation in sung prayer. Monthly rehearsals are held. (top) Children’s Word FacilitatorBreaking open the Word and making it come alive for children ages 4 and up. Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered twice a month during the 10 am Mass. (top) Christian Formation CommissionMembers meet with the Director of Religious Education, the Youth Minister and Pastoral Associate to discuss policies and goals and to share new ideas relative to programs geared to the youth or adult parishioners. (top) Classical ChoirSingers with some musical background rehearse on Wednesday evenings and sing most weekends, enriching our sung praise to God. The Classical Choir sings SATB (4-part harmony). High school youth through adults are welcome to participate. The choir does not meeting during the summer. (top) Contemporary ChoirThis upbeat group provides Christian music with unison singing, piano, guitars, bass and occasionally added instruments of a contemporary style at Sunday 10 am Mass. Youth in high school through adult are invited to join. Rehearsal is on Thursday evenings from 7-9 pm September through May. (top) Emmaus MealsPrepare and serve meals to those in need. Area churches of many faiths take rotating turns hosting this meal which is served at The Salvation Army. Help serve Christ present to the needy of our community. (top) Eucharistic MinistersMinisters of the Eucharist assist with the distribution of Holy Communion on Sundays and Holy Days. Adults and youth (Freshman and older) are invited to volunteer. Training is provided. (top) Finance CommissionCommittee members review our parish financial situation and give advice as to the operation of the parish. (top) Food PantryHelp stock and distribute food to the needy on first and third Monday mornings. Serve each time or as you can. Volunteers arrange food items on tables prior to distribution, assist with distribution, put items away, help stock pantry, purchase food. No training is necessary. (top) Fish FryHelp serve up the best fish in Sheboygan the first Fridays October through May. Money raised helps support our many ministries while YOU help parishioners and friends enjoy time together. Volunteers work once a season or every month as you are able. Jobs include table setting, waiting tables, preparing food, frying, taking orders, fixing plates and serving beverages. (top) Giving TreeVolunteers help by preparing cards that go on the Giving Tree which identify the need of the parish member. Parish members purchase the Christmas gifts. Giving Tree volunteers sort and deliver the gifts. (top) Governance BoardThis board is an elected, policy-making body for the Christ Child Academy (CCA). Elected members serve a three-year term. (top) Greeters - Ministry of HospitalityWarm and cheerful people are sought to welcome parishioners and guests to weekend Masses. Families may serve as greeters together! Greeters act as Ministers of Hospitality at the doors of church to welcome parishioners and guests as they arrive at church on Sundays and Holy Days. (top) Heavenly CleanersVolunteers do light housekeeping of the church on Mondays or Fridays - dusting, vacuuming, cleaning pews, etc. (top) Hmong MinistryThis committee responds to the needs of our Hmong parishioners and helps them to share their gifts with the community. Special mailings that are sent to all parishioners are translated into Hmong by members of this commission. (top) Human Concerns CommissionMembers evaluate the needs of our parish and community and organize services to meet those needs. Active programs under the direction of this commission include Food Pantry, Emmaus Meals, Ministry to the Grieving, Ministry to the Elderly and Homebound, Outreach, Rainbow Kids, Advent Giving Tree, Society of St. Vincent dePaul, SCIO and the Parish Nurse Program. (top) InstrumentalistsWe are always looking for instrumentalists to enhance our liturgies. If you are a trained musician and would like to add to our celebration, please contact Rochelle Ross at our rectory office (920) 457-9408. (top) LectorsLectors proclaim the Word of God at weekend Masses and other services. They must be comfortable reading in front of the assembly. It is open to adult and youth (Freshman or older). Training is provided. (top) Marriage Preparation TeamMarried couples meet with one to two engaged couples a year to discuss the FOCCUS questionnaire for 2 - 3 one hour meetings. Meet in your home or at the parish. Training provided. (top) Ministers of CareLay ministers visit the sick, lonely and elderly who are homebound and/or in nursing care facilities. They share Eucharist, prayer and caring hearts. Volunteers also provide transportation to church or other appointments, grocery shop, do lawn work or shovel snow. A short orientation is required. Meetings held as needed. (top) Ministry of PraiseThis prayerful group is formed in a bond of compassion and love which unites the members in spirit and a firm belief in the power of prayer. Members meet in church after liturgy on Tuesday mornings to gather in prayer. Personal prayer requests are offered via the Prayer Hotline. Contact parish office for more info. Ministry to the GrievingVolunteers offer comfort to grieving families by praying for them, attending vigil services and/or the funeral Mass. Members also send a sympathy card to the family after the funeral and again on the first anniversary. (top) New Life ChoirOur funeral choir, this group is composed of devoted adults who are called to sing for funeral liturgies. This choir rehearses shortly before the funeral and will occasionally sing at weekend Mass. (top) Parish CouncilBe a member of our faith-filled parish leadership team. Council meets the fourth Monday of the month to plan the future of our parish while supporting and encouraging ongoing ministries here at St. Peter Claver. (top) Parish GroundskeepingIn early spring, volunteers rake the parish lawns, trim shrubs and generally spruce up the parish grounds. Throughout the summer and into the fall, volunteers gather on Thursday mornings to accomplish their work assignments. (top) Personnel CommissionMembers create, maintain and/or modify personnel policies and procedures for SPC employees in accordance with the Milwaukee Archdiocesan guidelines. (top) Property and Maintenance CommissionCommittee members assist in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting needs of our parish. (top) Rainbow KidsRainbow Kids is a support group for children ages 4-17 who are suffering as a result of divorce or separation of parents and/or death or abandonment of a parent. Volunteers facilitate group sessions. A six-hour training session (two evenings) is mandatory for becoming a facilitator. (top) RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)RCIA facilitators help those interested in joining the Catholic Church reflect on life experiences through Scripture and the teachings of the Church, while team members of the "Inquiry Team" answer questions of those seeking entrance into the Catholic Church. (top) Religious Education CatechistWould you like to share your love of God and learn more about your faith at the same time? Catechists (teachers) serve on Wednesday afternoons. Detailed lesson plans and ongoing support are provided. (top) Septemberfest (Parish Festival) CommitteeJoin a team of excited and committed parishioners. There are detailed guidelines to follow and you learn from others as you go. Though there are ongoing details to organize, the bulk of the time commitment really is the few weeks before the festival and the festival itself. Volunteers are needed for game booths, food lines, beer tent, bingo, set-up, take down, ticket sales and raffles. (top) Server - AdultAdult servers primarily assist at funerals but may also serve on weekends and/or weekday Mass if available. Orientation and training is necessary. (top) Server - YouthYouth servers assist at weekend, holiday and occasionally wedding Masses about once a month. (top) SPC Children’s ChoirChildren in grades 3-5 sing once a month at various weekend Masses. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 4:45 - 5:45. (top) Spiritual Life and Worship CommissionThe commission gives guidance to all liturgical ministries as our parish gathers together in worship as a welcoming, prayerful and faith-filled community. (top) St. Vincent de Paul SocietyMembers respond to the material and spiritual needs of others by making home visits, serving at the local food bank or at the St. Vincent de Paul Store. Also meet monthly for prayer, formation and support. (top) Stewardship CommissionFaith-filled group that seeks to give thanks for all God has blessed us with, and helps others in the parish to do the same. No one on our committee is a “perfect” steward, but we, like you, try each day to grow in faith. We meet on the second Monday of the month. (top) Tri-Parish Heart Song Youth ChoirYouth grades 6 – 12 generally sing every month at St. Peter Claver or Immaculate Conception. Rehearsals are primarily the hour before the particular Mass. Come join your voices (and instruments) in praising God. (top) Ushers - Ministry of HospitalityUshers assist at Sunday and Holy Days liturgies, act as hospitality ministers, assist with the collection and assist with the flow of people for Communion. Adults and youth (Freshman and older) are invited to volunteer. Training is provided. Families may serve as ushers.(top) Youth Ministry Small Group LeaderSmall group leaders share their faith with high school students in grades 9 through 11. Each grade level meets on Wednesday evenings for 10 weeks. (top)
